Episode #37 - Moms and Platipi

May 11th, 2012

A slew of recent announcements have us buzzing about some up and coming games, and the @GAMER team talks about their recent trips to see Call of Duty: Black Ops II and God of War: Ascension. Then everyone discovers Ryan has watched about six movies in his entire life, Jillian has a rather strange obsession with the duck-billed platypus, and Andy has encyclopedic knowledge of how the Game Genie works.

Then we all talk about Mother's Day because, hey—moms are awesome.

Episode #36 - The Adventures of Chicken Man

April 27th, 2012

Holy unicorn impalement, Batman! Today's very special episode sees Jillian Lungaro returning to the podcast while Ryan recounts tales of living near Flint, Michigan, which has recently been voted as America's most dangerous city. No big deal.

We also talk about some recent reveals, including New Super Mario Bros. 2, God of War Ascension, and Ryan's recent look at Crysis 3. Next, we talk a bit about the next console cycle before jumping into a few rounds of Meta Game, a super-fun videogame-themed Apples to Apples clone. Of course, we follow that up with some high-fives, then pose a question to our listeners. Find out what that question is and how to answer it by listening to the episode, and you might be the lucky winner of a sick Assassin's Creed prize package!

Episode #35.5 - Mass Affected

April 20th, 2012

We got a LOT of requests to talk about the Mass Effect 3 ending after our last podcast, so we decided to have an in-depth discussion about it (and an interesting theory) with special guests Nic Vargus from TechRadar.com, Hollander Cooper from GamesRadar.com, and editor-in-chief Francesca Reyes of Official Xbox Magazine in this special episode of the @GAMER Podcast.

WARNING: THERE ARE A TON OF SPOILERS IN THIS EPISODE FOR MASS EFFECT 3, do not listen if you haven't completed the game.

Also, we apologize for the wonky audio, we had some technical issues with the recording equipment this week D:

Episode #35 - Reset Button

April 12th, 2012

So, uh, it's been awhile since the @GAMER staff has done a podcast because...well, there's practically a whole new @GAMER staff. Andy Eddy has been promoted to Editor in Chief, and we introduce the devilishly handsome voices of Executive Editor Charlie Barratt (formerly of GamesRadar.com), and Associate Editor (and your new host!) Ryan Taljonick, previously the assistant editor of PlayStation: The Official Magazine.

In an extensive meet and greet, we talk about what's going on in the magical world of @GAMER, as well as what we're playing and looking forward to seeing later this year. Charlie has bad breath, Ryan gets an awful new nickname, and Andy Eddy recounts the whimsical tales of setting Battlezone world records.

Finally, Ryan talks about his experience at PAX East, including info on Borderlands 2, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, and Max Payne 3. Following that, we pose a question to the listeners about their thoughts on Mass Effect 3 and the outcry for a new ending—be sure to listen to find out how you can win Ninja Gaiden 3 collector's edition!

@GAMER 2.0 (or is it 3.0?) is now underway. Thanks for joining us!

Derp Derp Podcast Derp

January 28th, 2012

Okay, maybe the "Lost Episode" would have been better. You may not want to listen to this one. There's something about a "make-up" podcast that causes it to be...less focused. So, yeah, don't listen. We won't be offended.

If you do happen to listen, Chuck, Wil and Andy talk about DLC, gamers having a chance to win a million dollars, CES, a vide0-game exhibit at the Smithsonian and a look into what we're playing. We also pollute your speakers with what's clearly the worst @Gamer Theater ever (Wil, a gravely voice doesn't sound like someone who's dying), though you will have a chance to win a pair of Billets earphones if you can correctly guess what game the scene comes from; send your answer to letters@atgamermagazine.com before our next podcast.

We can do much better. Really...don't listen to this one.

P.S.--This will be Chuck's last podcast with @Gamer, and we wish him well in his future endeavors. We did some NICE things in a short time...

@Gamer Podcast–The Lost Episode

January 24th, 2012

You know how some TV shows run episodes that they found in a long-forgotten box on some shelf somewhere and called them "The Lost Episodes"? Yeah, we don't have one of those. We do have a lost episode, but only because a computer crash ate the Episode #33 file after we recorded it. Probably would have been our best show, too. We'll make it up to you by getting a new podcast up shortly...apologies for the delay.
